Defaulting On Your Debt

Let me be perfectly clear (especially to any attorneys who might be reading this), if you can pay back your credit card debt and other unsecured debts, you should. This program isn't intended to allow you to skirt your contractual obligations. That being said, many of you, for reasons outside of your control—a loss of a job or spouse, an illness in the family, etc.—will find that you can no longer make your minimum payments. Others may realize they are simply treading water by making their minimum payments and are looking for a way out. Regardless of the reason you might stop making your payments, many people find defaulting on their unsecured debt difficult from a moral or ethical perspective.

I understand, and I felt the same way too ... before I learned exactly how the business of credit and debt collection works.
